I Feel Pretty
Greeting Fashion Bloggers!
It has be an eventful week filled for me! I have continued to practice my lash curling and masscara application techniques. I making smashing progress and I have to report that despite a less than thrilled first impression of diorshow masscara I must admit I am in love! Since changing up my application technique I am seeing my eyelashes stretch on for miles! Not only that I love the finish that diorshow leaves while you lashes are thicker and darker you can hardly tell that you have masscara on. So definitely go out and get you some!
This week I also spent some time putting together a few new outfits and my new fav are pleated skirts with pockets. Just love them! Whether highwaisted or not they go great with soft silks or long tanks. Right now I have my eye on a blue and white seersucker which will be paired with a soft white cotton scoop back tee. Simple but girlie I know but who doesn't want to feel beautiful? Check out some of favorite skirts of the season!

Weekend Musings
Happy Monday Bloggers (or sad Monday depending on how you view a Monday morning)!
Well this weekend was an eventful one for me from a fashion standpoint. I was too cute Friday with my razor back tee flood pants and a short sleeved shrug/sweater. During this period I have continued to work on my masscara application technique and I must admit that my diorshow is growing on me. But you know what they say about first impressions!
Saturday I attended a wedding and it is so beautiful to see two people so in love join hands in holy matrimony. The colors were a soft peach and gold the flower arrangements were simply lovely. Speaking of lovely I was lovely in my navy and white peasant dress (the wedding was at 2pm so completely appropriate attire) with white flats and match white bag. I cannot tell how much I adore dresses! This summer my goal has been to only wear dresses simple and uncomplicated. Shifts are my favorite folllowed by t-shirt and peasant dresses. Shorts and tanks can often times leave you feeling constricted and conscious of making sure your bra (or having to cosntantly adjust your strapless bra) isn't showing or constantly remembering to suck in so that the tummy looks flat. LOL! However with a nice cotton blend dress like a shift dress there is no need to worry about all that. You are free indeed to let the tummy hang a little since the dress isn't form fitting who will notice? Sleeves are in style with these dresses so your regular comfy bra or a cami will work wonderfully. Lastly the look is so completely feminine that it makes you feel pretty and put together while little to no effort is even required. Okay is it clear that I love dresses? LOL!
Enough I digress! Now Sunday did find me lounging in a pair of short shorts coupled with a long old navy tee with some flops so these items can be comfortable as well as long as you pair them correctly. Short shorts should be followed with a top that doesn't reveal the navel or show to much skin up top to keep the look from looking too club-hopper-ish. Trust me just having bare shoulders is enough to bring the sexy back without having to show everything the good Lord gave you.
And that is how my weekend went according to fashion! Stay tuned for more! And the meantime check out some of my favorite dresss by simply clicking on the pics!

PS...
A day in the life of....
Yesterday my plan was to stop at Sephora to reload on my favorite D35 compact powder by Sephora and to pick up some tanks from Old Navy.
First stop Old Navy my initial plan was to get a brown tank to replace one I had previously purchased and somehow gotten a mysterious and unremovable oil stain on. If you have not purchased one of these Old Navy long tanks you absolutely need to do so and now is a good time since most of the ribbed tanks are going for $5.00. When paired with a cardigan, vest, or blazer you are sure to look fabulous whether at the office or at play. I ended up not only getting the brown tank but also a pepto pink one to go with my cute orange cuffed short that I got from Forever 21 for just $9. Bright colors go well with one another under the right circumstances.
So on to Sephora I go and alas! They were completely out of my D35 compact powder which means a trip to the Galleria Sephora for me this weekend (yuck). However in lieu of my powder I purchased the renowned Dior Diorshow masscara in black. Every fashion mag out raves about this masscara and all the top makeup artists use it on models during runway shows (hence its name). I was excited to see what all the hype was about as to me isn't all masscara the same?
This morning during my routine makeup application I opened up my Diorshow and proceeed to glide it on to my freshly curled (with Shu Uemura eyelash curlers) eyelashs and then...NOTHING! No noticeable difference than the supposedly crappy Clinque brand I had been using before. I was distraught upon consulting my fashion stylist as to what could have possibly have happened I have been informed that my application technique is lacking and needs improvement for me to be able to see a real difference. This is totally believeable as it has taken me a month to successfully and expertly learn to curl my eyelashes. So stay tuned as I continue to work on my eyelash application. But in the mean time check out my latest faves by simply clicking on the pics!

All Things Cole Haan
Ladies,
Every once and a while comes a shoe designer that just touches you right on the ball of your foot. For me that designer is Cole Haan. On a recent shopping expedition with one of my gal pals we made a point to stop by the Cole Haan store and check out the latest fashions. Can we say love at first sight??? From the moment I saw these bourdeaux eel skin beauties I knew that I had to have them! But at the staggering price of $495.00 I knew that I would have to leave them in the store. We can't help who we love. The heart does not comprehend that all wallets are not created equal. Not every shoe that Cole Haan makes is that darn expensive and and you can usually find that waiting for the sale does pay off in the end. So go ahead and peruse through the online store, hit up the sales section, go into a store and try on a pair and perhaps maybe you too will fall in love!

Makeup Removal: Cold Cream
If you wear foundation or heavy sunscreen, you know how difficult it is to remove it. I have tried the oily removers from well known department store brands, but find them too greasy on my combination skin. Cold cream is my solution. I’m not talking about that large white jar of your mother’s Pond’s cold cream. I am talking about one made with rose extract that is extra gentle on your skin. Sold at Bath and Body Works, the C.O. Bigelow Rose Wonder Cold Cream does not clog pores and is fragrance free. And if you are skeptical, they sell a travel size version for a couple of bucks so your buyer’s remorse won’t be so bad.

What's In Your Tool Box???
Moisturizer, concealer, neutral eye shadows, a great black mascara…what are these? Great basics are what they are. But what about your basic tools? I’m sure we all lose one here and there and then buy a cheap replacement, thinking to ourselves, “I’ll just get another good one down the road.” Well ladies, it’s time to throw out those cheap tweezers and eyelash curlers from Target and CVS. Let’s go back to the best of the best. And for those newbies out there, the best are Tweezerman for tweezers and Shu Uemura for eyelash curlers. These basics will last you for years, so don’t be afraid to spend $40 on yourselves.

Perfect Ten Brush Set ($150 Value)
Ladies I know that most of us probably still buy our brushes from Walmart or Target but in the words of Beyonce, "Let me upgrade you". The quality of the brushes you use on your face can have a dramatic impact on how evenly and smooth your makeup goes on your face. Yes brushes from shops like Sephora can be expensive but right now you can get the Perfect Ten Brush Set for only $72. That is steal because a good powder brush can easily run you $34. So if you don't believe that brushes can make a difference here is your change to prove me wrong. Invest in a set of good brushes and see if your makeup doesn't go on smoother and more evenly creating that flawless look we all strive for!

Shine On!
Are you tired of the sticky and so called light lip glosses out there? Can’t stand it when it’s windy and your hair sticks to your lips? Well, it’s time to change to a light lip gloss that has all the benefits of a moisturizing lipstick. Fresh cosmetics (sold at Sephora) makes a great lip shine that contains jojoba oil and shea butter to nourish and protect your lips all day. And with all the great neutral colors, there’s a color for every woman out there.

When SPF Counts
Did you know that free radicals in our atmosphere as well as the sun can damage our skin creating wrinkles and making us look older than we should? So in keeping with our beauty series I mentioned in a previous blog the importance of using a moisturizer with at least a SPF 15 in order to keep your face protected from the suns rays. Well I recommend the Alba Hawaiian Suncare line. They offer sunscreen in SPF 15 and SPF 30. I recommend the Green Tea SPF 30 suncscreen it contains antioxidants and is non greasy so you can use this as a daily moisturizer under you makeup while receiving maximum protection from the sun. Alba is available at CVS Pharamacy, HEB, Walgreens, and Whole Foods. So stay cool this summer knowing that your face is protected.
