Greetings Bloggers!
How many friends do you have? Do you value your friendships? How do you show it?
As an only child I can tell you that friends definitely come in handy. For starters, they keep me from having imaginary friends!! We celebrate Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day; heck somewhere someone actually celebrates Groundhog’s Day. I’m sure that there is a national friend day but who knows when that date is, and who really celebrates their friends on that particular day?
I made a commitment to myself this year to celebrate all of my friends; close friends and those not so close. You should write a list of all of your friends, and the special people in your life that you want to celebrate and thank for being a part of your support network. Starting next month, I’m going to write the names of all the people that I wish to celebrate on little pieces of paper, fold them and place them into a jar. Twice a month I will pull a name and celebrate that person. Am I going to throw them a party? Definitely NOT!! I’m going to simply write them a note expressing what they mean to me with a little gift attached. You my friends should do the same.
Inexpensive gift ideas: Bath salts, lottery ticket, $5 McDonald’s gift card (oh please, you know you still eat there), lotion, burn a CD, buy a movie ticket, favorite magazine, etc. Are you getting the point? At one time or another I’m sure that we have all contributed to the “office kitty” to purchase a gift for someone that we either didn’t care about or in my case HATED!! Let’s celebrate those that we love. As my late grandmother used to say, “Give me my roses while I’m alive.”
